Be like Gandalf. Do not let them pass.
For the sake of all Spoonies, and anyone who gets sick for any reason, please seriously consider what's going on in our country for healthcare. We have, right now, a party willing to forgo access to treatment and preventative care, for the sake of money. For the sake of appearing like they accomplished something. Much like when I would shove all my stuffed animals and toys under my bed and say I "cleaned my room" as a child, the GOP is willing to shove through legislation without proper due care. If you are unfamiliar with the bill, here are some important links: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2017/09/do-no-harm/540333/ - describes how the Cassidy-Graham bill is more harmful than beneficial - describes why doctors are in opposition
http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2017/09/21/552561822/graham-cassidy-health-bill-would-take-funds-from-states-that-expanded-medicaid - describes how all the bill does is shift money from blue states to red states (which is, in my opinion, really suspicious, because already the GOP complains how there is "never enough money", despite approving a military-spending increase that could cover infrastructure and education combined)
https://www.indivisibleguide.com/resource/trumpcare-another-name-graham-cassidy/ - another guide, though keep in mind the bias (the language reflects it in the summary). Nonetheless, a useful resource for when the truth is being deliberately hidden from the public
**Also note that almost ALL medical organizations across the US are in direct opposition to this bill. With medical organizations almost never in agreement on anything (just see the recent guidelines on butter, or fats, or carbs, or the latest avocado trends), this is significant (YUGGGGE, even!). Equally important links include the phone numbers for your Congressional reps:
https://www.nationalpriorities.org/take-action/contact-your-representative/ - you can search for your reps' names here, as well as how to address them http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/contacting-your-congressional-representative_us_582a0965e4b060adb56f8e95 - an article from last year, but still important on what is most effective in reaching your representatives
https://www.congress.gov/contact-us - from one of my favorite places, the Library of Congress! This sources out to links to reach who you want https://faxzero.com/fax_congress.php - if you don't like calling, you can fax as well. Chances are these are read only by staffers, but keeping the offices busy is a way of showing you are engaging. https://resistbot.io/ - this bot is really helpful! It does the sending for you. Just write or read from a script, and poof! Congress knows how you really feel.
CALL YOUR REPS. EMAIL THEM. FAX THEM. Write letters to the editor. Send tweets, snapchats, whatever media you have. BE LIKE GANDALF AND DO NOT LET THIS BILL PASS.
